2nd Grade Science Fair & Brigs' Donuts With Dad!

The last month of school is always a whirl wind of projects, tests and field trips!  Last week, we threw together a science experiment for the 2nd grade Science Fair!  We found an idea on Pinterest, and started the project after school on Wednesday, April 15.  When we came home from swimming lessons a few hours later and nothing had happened, we were a bit worried it was going to be a flop!  Boston had already written down all of his info. on his tag board and note cards, so he was so worried he was going to have to redo everything for a different experiment!  I added a little more water & food coloring to the jars, and when Boston woke up Thursday morning, it was exactly like we needed it to be!

Getting it all set up!
Carefully adding a few drops of food coloring to the right jars!

Doing the 'boring part' as Boston would say.  He just isn't real artistic or enthusiastic when it comes to these types of projects.  He would have been perfectly content writing it all out in pencil, however, I bought brand new markers for the project, so told him I wanted to see it colorful!
We got the paper towels in the jars and now we wait for the water to walk!
Thursday morning before school!  The water had 'walked' up the paper towels and the two colors had mixed, to make a new color in the empty jars!

My handsome lunch dates on Friday!  They love it when we get pizza at Target!
Brigham wanted his hair spiked up for Donuts with Dad at school!

2 at school and the little one asleep = a quiet afternoon of reading!
Brigham was so excited that his daddy got to be at school today!

At 2:00, I dropped Bronx off with the Elgersma's so I could head to SFC to attend Boston's Science Fair!  He wasn't super enthused about the Science Fair, but he was really looking forward to going to his friend Riley's (pictured next to Boston!) house after school for his birthday party/sleepover!
All 4 sections of second graders were set up in the elementary cafeteria.  It was pretty crowded!

Boston & his friend Jackson.
Bronx having a good time with Chloe!
After school we played outside a bit.
The little boys play so good together when it's just the two of them!

Bronx has started grabbing at his diaper when he pees or poops, but this was a first!  I heard him saying 'Ack mama!  Ack mama!'  I found him hovered over his diaper checking out his poop!  The other half of the poop was still stuck between his butt cheeks!
Saturday, April 18:  Soccer in the rain!  Brigham went to Snyders for a few hours, so I just had Bronx at the game.  We took shelter under the umbrella!  Boston got to play goalie for the first time, so that was fun.  He didn't have any goals scored against him!  In the 2nd half of the game, he got 2 goals & even missed a few more attempts.  So much fun to watch!

I'm a Soccer mom again!

Boston hasn't played soccer in a few years, but wanted to give it a try again this spring.  He previously had played soccer in the fall, but when flag football became an option we told him he had to chose one or the other.  We decided that since Boston was the only one involved in sports right now, and because he really wanted to try soccer again, we would let him participate in two sports this spring.  He picked it up right away and is loving it!  For the next few weeks, we have a very crazy schedule with soccer practice & games, baseball practices and the last few weeks of swimming lessons.  When the middle of May rolls around and school is out, and we just have baseball games on the calendar, it will feel too easy having such a slow schedule!  Soccer practice goes until 8 on Tuesday nights, which is usually the time Bronx & Brigham are in bed, but they handle the mix up in their schedules pretty well.  It gets a little easier every year to haul the kids to and from most of these activities on my own, and I pack along plenty of treats to keep them quiet, for at least part of the time!

Saturday, April 11:  Boston's 1st game!  It was a chilly morning!

His 1st goal of the season!  He was pretty excited!

He was a little disappointed he missed :)
I saw the movie The Longest Ride with my friend Renae so I brought home leftover popcorn for the boys!  It ended up on the floor.
Sunday morning breakfast. Watching these 3 boys grow up together just catches my breathe at times.  I'm just SO lucky!
Our deck project got started on Monday morning, April 13!  Our neighbor a few houses down does construction work, so we hired him for the job.  He was done in 2 1/2 days!  It was fun to see how quickly it changed!  The railing was off in a half hour!
Trent had quite the audience out the patio doors!

 Such a different look already!

Tuesday:  The pergola is going up!

By mid morning on Wednesday, the deck addition was complete!  We still need to finish up some landscaping and rock, and get a cement slab poured at the bottom of the steps.  Gives the house a whole different look!  We love how it turned out!

Brigs tripped over a toy last night.  He scraped his face up on the wall & broke his glasses...again!
I was cleaning out Brigham's school folder in the car while we were waiting for Boston & the car pool kids.  I found this drawing and Derek and I lost it!   I asked Brigham what it was and he said 'It's our whole family!'.  At first glance I thought for sure I was the one in brown with the 4 circles, but Brigs said that was Boston playing football.  Derek thought we all looked like penis'.  We laughed SO HARD!  This drawing is a keeper!
Swimming Lesson  #5 of #8!   Boston's dead man float.  Derek and I just laughed and laughed that he couldn't keep his body afloat.  The swim teacher said that some people float flat & some float up and down.  Boston is definitely an up & down floater!
Derek's turn to swim with Bronx!
I thought for sure he would he scream for his mama, but he did great!
