Twilight Saga- Eclipse!

So today Boston was my date for the movie Eclipse! (Jason & Shana too!)  I'm sure most of you are thinking "what kind of mother would take their 4 year old to a movie about vampires and warewolves!?" but this kid LOVES movies! His favorites are movies that involve fighting or bad guys.  He has watched my DVD's of Twilight and New Moon several times so when the previews started showing for Eclipse he asked right away if we were going.  He sat pretty well during the movie today.  He was a bit restless when his medium sized popcorn ran low and his gummy sour sticks were gone, but as soon as the warewolves and vampires were on the screen his eyes were glued!  I absolutely loved the movie!  If someone would have told me last summer that I would read 4 books above vampires and warewolves and fall in love with the story I would have rolled my eyes at them..  I never picked up a book in high school but in the last 5 years have really learned to enjoy reading.  Last spring I started reading the first book of the Twilight Saga.  When I finished it I went and bought the second book, and then the 3rd and 4th!  I couldn't stop talking about the books that even Derek read them!  He wanted to know "what the fuss was all about", and he even enjoyed them!!  If you haven't read the books please don't judge!  I know it's kind of crazy that an almost 30 year woman would want to wear a shirt that reads "I love vampires", and that is crazed about a movie that 14 year old girls giggle and scream about, but it's just so darn good!!   I'm even willing to loan out my books for anyone willing to give it a chance :)

Last night was Boston's last night of soccer!  We did great.  I say "we" because I know nothing about soccer so I was learning the basics right along with him.  He has great coordination already so i'm positive he's going to be quite the athlete.  He is also a FISH at his swimming lessons.  He is under the water more than he is above water!  He has 2 more nights of lessons left, and then we'll find out if he will move onto the 3rd level next summer.  I am just so proud of him.  My mom said I was the same way when I was Boston's age, no fear of the water!  The weather has been super nice all week.  We haven't been out to Wild Water West this week but we have been spending time outside every afternoon.  I am loving the sunshine, and my tan!

Here are a few pictures I took today of our lilys!  There are a few plants taller than Boston! I just can't believe the flowers that have bloomed!
There are a lot more flowers since my pictures from last week!!
There are over 30 flowers just on one plant!

Monday Fun Day!!

This afternoon I was sitting outside trying to read my book (Eat, Pray, Love) but found myself easily distracted by Boston. He was playing with his transformers out on the swing set. It is absolutely amazing to hear Boston's imagination at work as he's playing. So instead of reading I decided to grab a piece of paper and a pencil and jot down some of the things he was saying. I'm telling you, this kid can make you laugh so hard you about cry! Here are a few of the things he said:

"Megatron is going to fight you with his evil sword"
"It's my evil septicon breaker. It crushes!"
"Who wants to go first? Ok, you. Optimus Prime. You go first."
"I will destroy the earth. Ha Ha Ha" (he even had an evil laugh!)

There were times I would giggle outloud and Boston would look at me, wondering what I was laughing about. I was trying not to make it obvious I was listening to him play. He is SO easily entertained by himself. Just B, his imagination and a few superhero toys! Every once in awhile he'll holler at me just to make sure i'm still close by, or say "Mom, look at this!". He played for 2 hours outside today, with 2 toys, and the rope for his climbing wall. He would tie up a transformer, let it drop off the swinset, and then the other transformer would save him. Over and over again for 2 hours! These are are the days I am so thankful for working part time! I love being able to spend more time with Boston. It's so nice to have the time to stop and listen to him play, rather than rushing to do laundry, cook supper, clean, or run errands. The kid is hilarious, and I know he doesn't get that from me! Tonight we had swimming lessons and then baseball practice. Derek had to work late so he wasn't able to come to either of his activities. When I told him that Derek was going to miss his baseball practice he said "It's just you and me mom", with a smile on his face. I think he's enjoying the Mommy & Boston time too :)

Optimus Prime is all tied up in the rope!

Having fun!

On our way to baseball practice! I was the ONLY mom out playing with their son, but I was dang good:)

This is Boston's favorite thing to do. He thinks he's cool.

So you know you are getting older...

So you know you are getting older when you get excited about your flowers blooming!!! I pulled up from work today and ran in the house to get Boston. We've been watering my lily's together, and watched them grow buds all spring! Patiently waiting for the flowers to bloom! Well today is the day! It's like it happened over night and the flowers are SO big!! Boston's eyes got big and he just grinned from ear to ear when I showed him the pretty flowers! Last spring, Derek helped me plant the lily's alongside the house. They were my Mothers Day gift. This spring they started growing and had tripled in size! The number of buds on each stem is just crazy! When they are fully bloomed it will be so pretty!! Here are a few pictures. I'm sure you won't be near as excited as we are but we'll share the pictures anyway! :) Happy Summer!!!

Who's dog is it?

It's a daily topic of conversation around this household.. "who's dog is it?". As most of you know, we, (or I, or possibly Boston, as we are still trying to figure out who should take ownership of the dog) have been blessed with a "special dog". 7 years ago in May I thought I needed a dog. I was single and felt like I needed a dog to keep me company and to fill up some of my free time. So one afternoon I headed to Sioux Falls determined I was coming home with a dog. I wound up at Mini Critters and immediately fell in love with a little shitzu puppy. I had a shitzu growing up and should have known they were NOT a good fit for me, as our dog "Misty" when I was little gave us horrible troubles! However, that day at the pet store the memories of Misty didn't cross my mind, and this little puppy's cuteness won me over. I left Sioux Falls that day with a $350 dog whom I named Jaxon. Over the years (basically since Derek entered the picture) Jaxon has been a horribly misbehaved dog! I think it's that he just despises Derek because I swear he never acted this way the first few years I had him! Now that Boston is getting old enough to do simple chores around the house, he gets stuck with the dog chores. When we get home, it is Boston's job to go to the kennel and let Jaxon out, and make sure he gets outside to go to the bathroom. Boston also fills Jaxon's food and water dishes. Boston is a smart 4 year old, and lately he's catching on to Jaxon being "special", and will say under his breath "that dumb dog!". A few weeks ago I asked Boston to let Jaxon out and he said "he's not my dog mom".. I was shocked, and of course I got to thinking, "well who's dog is it then?!" I joke with Derek quite a bit that the dog is his. He absolutely hates Jaxon and this just gets him riled up :) I know that if something were to ever happen to me that Jaxon would go right with me. Is the dog mine since I bought him? Is the dog "ours" since we are a family, and Derek says that when you become a family you share your belongings?! Or is the dog Bostons? Boston and Jaxon enjoy pestering each other, and seem to have a good bond so it seems appropriate that it would be Boston's dog? If Boston wants to go outside in the backyard to play and I'm busy, he'll say "mom i'm taking Jaxon outside with me", and the two of them wander outside to play. Boston swings, or plays in the sandbox and the dog sits in the grass and watches him. I guess that's what happens when you don't have siblings to play with... you end up playing with your dog. Well anyway, I could go and on about our dog. Maybe i'll share more stories of Jaxon in another blog post. For now, we'll just say the dog is Derek's :)

SuGaRlAnD!!!!

Last night Derek & I went to the Sugarland Concert with my friend Amanda and her husband Jarod. Amanda and I went to High School together and hung out a lot growing up. We don't see each other very often so it was so fun to hang out! The concert was AWESOME!! I love country music, and Sugarland is one of my favorites! Derek is not a huge country music fan but he actually enjoyed himself! He even commented as we were leaving that it was a really fun concert! I'm hoping this means more country shows in our future:)

Boston spent the night with Grandma Glady last night. She said he was perfect, ..but she always says that! They watched Toy Story, built a fort with the couch cushions and read Bible stories. At bed time he told her he only kisses his mommy, not grandmas! I think she ended up bribing him for a few:) It was a nice little break for Derek and I! So thankful that we have grandparents right in town to babysit!

Omaha Zoo!

Derek and I took Boston to the Omaha Zoo today. We left at 7 AM so that we could get there early and enjoy the entire day there! The weather was awesome. A wonderful change from what seems like 2 weeks of rain! We had such a fun time as a family. I've posted several pictures for you to enjoy :)

Ok, so I absolutely HATE rats and mice..and snakes!.. however this baby rat was just too cute!

Boston & Derek walking on the bridge. Boston was too scared to walk by himself.

Derek & Boston in the Aqarium. Boston LOVED watching the sharks!

Boston & Derek trying to get a good look at the Gorilla that was sitting right by the windows. I could watch the Gorilla's for hours! They are just so interesting!

Boston & I on the SkyFari. Derek and I thought it was fun, Boston did NOT enjoy it. He kept saying "we are gonna fall mommy!"

They are having a "name the lion pup" contest so we signed up! We put down the name Boston, since they share the same birthday!! Super neat!

A 3 legged Tiger. The 4th leg had to be amputated when the tiger was a young cub.
A silly family picture!

As soon as we left the Aquarium (which was what Boston talked about the whole way there!) we picked up a stuffed shark for Boston. The shark seems to be in about every picture we took today! :) Boston just loves little stuffed animals. We ended up letting him get one more from the gift shop as we were leaving for the day. Derek tried to talk him into a GIANT stuffed alligator, but Derek scared Boston with it and made him cry! He picked a little baby gorilla instead:)

Boston climbing in the "Desert Dome".

This is the stuffed animal that Derek scared Boston with. Derek came around the corner of the isle with the alligators mouth open, like it was going to bite Boston. Boston jumped off the floor he was so scared..and then he cried. I felt so bad for him!

My Baby is 4!!.

Even though Boston's birthday party was last weekend (the 5th) his actual birthday was the 1oth. I wanted his actual birthday to be special so I woke him up early for a toaster strudel birthday cake! I had to work 8-12 that day and I didn't want to miss being the first one to say Happy Birthday to him! I think Derek thought I was crazy, but Boston loved it! He looks a little sleepy in the pictures but he thought it was pretty cool! B's daycare has been closed this week, so on Thursday my mom came down to watch Boston until I got off at noon. They had fun making a fort in the living room! When I got off work we all went out for lunch and then headed to Target! Boston got a Target giftcard in the mail from our cousin Kerry in California. I told Boston he could pick out whatever he wanted. We came home with 2 large transformers..that make noise! Boston thinks they are the coolest thing ever! Thank you Kerry!! Boston thought it was so neat that he had his own money to spend.

We had a very busy week! Sunday was the start of our Vacation Bible school program. The final night and program for the parents was Thursday night. I volunteered to be a crew leader this year. I had 4 little boys in my group. (Boston was one of the boys). It was a lot of fun, but was also very tiring! I got a great taste of what life would be like with quadruplet 4 year old boys... lets just say that God knew better than to bless me with multiples!! I think I said "ok boys, no wrestling" about 100 times a night! Even though it was a bit stressful at times, the boys were sweet, and it was so fun sharing Gods word with them. On Wed. night the leaders of VBS put on a short skit of Jesus dying on the cross. The lights were off in the gym and just a spot light was on the cross. Someone played the part of Jesus dying on the cross.. The kids were all SILENT.. it was just so neat to see them listening to the story. I even got a few tears and goosebumps!

The morning of Boston's 4th Birthday!

All the kids getting ready for the VBS program!

Practicing the songs before the program. The two little boys next to Boston were boys in my group. (Eli & Luke)

MS Bike Tour- Pedal The Plains!!

It makes my heart race even posting about riding my bike 150 miles, but that's exactly what I'm preparing to do!! I am registered to ride in this years SD MS Bike Tour in August. We will be biking from Sioux Falls to Madison, SD on Saturday, and then back to Sioux Falls on Sunday. It is about 75 miles each day. It will be the first time i've ever done anything like this, and what better year than the year I turn the BIG 3-0!! I've said for several months..."when I turn 30 i'm going to start doing things i've always said i'm going to do and have never done".. Riding in the MS Bike Ride is one of those things. My mom has riden in the MS Bike Ride for 15 + years! She's 51 now.. if a 51 year old woman can ride, I can ride.. or so I keep telling myself :) I have my bike scheduled for a "check up" later this week, and then will have LOTS of training to do before August!

I'm hoping to raise $1000! I know that sounds like a crazy number, but I figure it's my first year so I'm going BIG!! Please click on the link below to visit my personal page and make a donation online! I will blog again about how my training is going. I appreciate your donation and support as I prepare for the big ride!

Boston's 4th Birthday Party!

This past week was my first week working part time. I can't even put into words how awesome my new schedule is! It's very weird for me going into work and "punching in" at 8 and "punching out" when the clock says 12! As a supervisor my role was so different. I felt like I was pulled in 90 different directions each day, and was responsible for 10 other people! If someone was sick..I filled in. If work wasn't ready for the next day of clinic..I worked until it was complete. It is so nice to not have those stresses anymore!! We still haven't gone to the pool yet this summer but now that i've gotten a few projets done at home and the birthday party has come and gone, we are ready for some SUN and relaxing at Wild Water West!!

Friday afternoon Boston and I picked up my neice Paisley! She came over for a sleepover! Boston & Paisley had a fun time playing all afternoon while I did some baking for the birthday parties! Paisley camped out in her sleeping bag on Boston's floor, and suprisingly enough...they BOTH slept through the night!! While they were having their snack before bed Paisley said "Auntie Jamie, I love staying the night at your house!" She is just the sweetest thing!

Saturday was Boston's big day...and what a day it was! Boston had such a great time at his birthday parties yesterday! Yes, that's right, he had 2 parties! (Spoiled..i know!) At 11:00 yesterday morning his "friends" came over for a party. There were ten 4 year olds here! The kids were all so well behaved and had a great time playing in the bounce house! They got about an hour of bouncing in and then we had lunch. We had peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches (B's favorite) and some other fun kid snacks! After we ate lunch and had cupcakes, Boston opened his gifts. Boston got so many fun new things from his friends! After gift opening.. it was raining.. I was so bummed the kids couldn't bounce some more before their parents came to get them, but they had fun playing in Boston's toy room and trying out some of his new toys! After the kids left about 1:30, the rain clouds moved out and the sun began to shine! We got the bounce house up again and dryed out with some towels..and we were boucing again for the next party! At 3:00, family and a few more friends came over for round 2 of Birthday celebrating! It was so funny.. We all sang Happy Birthday to Boston, and then he blew out his candle and made a wish. He wished out loud..and guess what he said.. "I wish for my mommy to love me!". It was so funny and heartbreaking at the same time. I of course said "I already LOVE you buddy!".. and now I feel awful and wonder if maybe he doesn't think I love him :(

The bounce house stayed up until 9:00 last night! We definetely got our moneys worth again this year! Hard to believe we celebrated ANOTHER birthday already...seems like a few weeks ago I was just planning for his 3rd birthday party. I get super emotional when I think about how fast the time is going.. so i'll blog about that later :) Happy Sunday!!
