36 Week Update & Pre-K Field Trip!

This morning I met Boston's preschool class at All American Gymnastics for a morning of fun!  The kids had a blast running, jumping and swinging around!  Boston is always doing kart wheels and hand stands in the house so he enjoying having the nice soft mats to do his tricks on.

At 12:30 Derek, Boston and I headed to Avera for my 36 week ultrasound!  This ultrasound was mainly done to measure the baby's size more accurately due to my gestational diabetes.  Right away the ultrasound tech said "your not very big at all!".. In my head I was thinking that was the nicest thing i'd heard all week because I feel BIG! The baby looked great and is not too small or too big.  They guess the baby to weigh about 5 1/2 pounds, so it's just a little peanut yet! My fasting sugars have been above the normal range a few mornings here and there this past week, but because the baby is not measuring large they are not overly concerned with it.  They would like me to keep checking my blood sugars, and to try and keep my numbers within range, but it's nothing to be alarmed over if they jump here and there.  WHEW!  My poor fingers are getting sore from all the poking so i'll be glad when this is over.

I didn't get any ultrasound pictures this time which is a bummer, but the baby's head is SO LOW so the tech couldn't get a good look of the baby's face.  The baby was active during the ultrasound too, so there is still plenty of room for the little peanut to squirm around!  Overall, a great appointment!  4 weeks or LESS!!!

Baby Shower!

My sister and good friend Stacy put on a baby shower for me this morning.  It was so much fun!  Thank you to all of my friends and family who attended and for those of you that brought food!  We got so many neat things that we were needing/wanting before the arrival of little Gerdes, and also a few gift cards so that I can purchase some baby clothes!  I had so much fun this afternoon looking through the gifts again and getting things washed up and put away!  Boston begged to take a bath tonight just so he could play with the new baby bath toys!  He also really likes the baby mobile/projector that plays music and lights up the ceiling with fun pictures.  He asked if he could have one in his room to help him sleep :)    5 weeks to go...unless this little one decides to come a bit early, and i'm totally ok with that!

Boston was in charge of brining over the gifts for me to open..he picked the biggest bag first!
A Diaper Genie!  Derek is very excited we got this!

We are loving the sunshine!

It's 43 degrees in Sioux Falls right now and it feels like a spring day with the sun shining! I even got out the lawn chair while Boston played in the snow and splashed in the puddles. It felt SO GOOD to feel the warmth of the sun. I am so ready for winter to be over, especially after the last few days of above average temps! Here are a few pictures of Boston enjoying the nice weather!

I feel like Boston is a bit deprived of all the fun things to do in the snow but I really do NOT like the cold weather so he hardly ever gets to play outside in the snow.  Today I thought it was time he got his first taste of snow.  Don't worry..he got strict rules to only put clean snow in his mouth, nothing dirty or yellow!  Here he is giving it a try..
He loved it!  When I asked him what it tasted like he said "It smells like meatballs!"  Silly boy!
He was pretty proud of the snow chair he made.
 Riding the scooter!

Lots of Updates!

I haven't posted in over a week so this will be a random blog post on several topics!

Gestational Diabetes:  It's going well!  I have not had to start insulin shots.  We made an adjustment to my evening snack last week and my numbers have been fine since!  Hopefully things continue going well throughout these last 6 weeks.  I meet with my OB on Tuesday the 15th for a check up, so am looking forward to that.  It was mentioned at my GD diagnosis that I would have another ultrasound at about 34-36 weeks to measure the size of the baby so I will find out more about that Tuesday.  They are not concerned the baby is getting too big so it may not even be necessary.. although it sure would be fun to catch another glimpse of the baby :)

Laptop:   Literally about 10 minutes after filing our taxes on Monday afternoon, my laptop shut off and I was never able to turn it back on.  The computer geeks called me this morning to tell me it was the motherboard that went bad, so instead of paying $450 to fix it, I just went and bought myself a whole new computer.  Happy early Valentines day to me!

Valentine Party:  I had the day off work today and was able to help out with Boston's Valentine party at school.  They must have been reading Valentine stories this week and talking about polite things to say to your loved ones for Valentines day because Boston has been saying "yes my love" and "yes my princess" all day.  It's just so precious!

Work Schedule:  My coworker and I did come up with a job share schedule.  As of 2/28 I will be working 2 full days a week, and 1 half day.  One week I will work all day Monday & Tuesday, and Wed. morning, and the next week I won't work until Wed. morning, and then all day Thursday and Friday.  It will be an adjustment putting in full 8 hour days again, especially when I am in my last 4 weeks of pregnancy so hopefully it all goes ok.  At least it's just for a short period of time before the baby is expected to arrive.

That's about it I think..  And now for some new pictures!

Boston is really into playing games on the computer.  It's just crazy how well he can navigate the mouse and play games on his own! As you can see he is really concentrating :)
Boston got ahold of the camera and wanted to take a picture of each person in the family.   Here's the dog.. good ole Jaxon sleeping away..right at the feet of his most favorite person (Derek)!
Derek..of coures poses for the camera!
Boston didn't want a picture of me..he wanted a picture of my bare belly!
Boston & Anna making their "Love Bug" snack at the Valentine party!
Boston eating his snack with his classmates.
The Valentine craft that I helped the kids make!
Boston's teachers made him a Valentine Bag for all of his valentines and candy!
And isn't this picture the CUTEST?!!!  Ella has been in Boston's preschool class both years.  This is a picture that Ella's mom took of the kids earlier in the year at a Charger Football Game!  She gave me a copy of the picture today and I just think it is adorable!

Footy Pajamies!

If Boston were to make a list of his most favorite things, I am positive that footy pj's would be on it! He has always liked them and even now that he's getting a little older he still prefers the footy pj's over his other's.  Today my mom came to town and took us out for lunch.  We hadn't seen her since Christmas so it was nice to spend a few hours with her!  We ate at the Olive Garden! (One of MY favorite things!)  I had told my mom a week or so ago that Boston was out growing all of his winter pajama's so she picked up a clearance pair for him while she was out shopping.  She surprised him with them today and he was SO excited!  After lunch we all went to Target and Kohls.  We got a few things for the nursery walls and Grandma let us pick out a gift for the baby!  As soon as we got home Boston asked if it was ok to put his new "pajamies" on.  Of course I said yes, because that's the first thing I did too!  :)

Before I wrap up my blog for the day I just have a prayer request regarding my gestational diabetes.  I'm having some issues with my morning numbers again and am so worried that the next step will be an insulin shot in the mornings.  I am normally not afraid of needles or blood, but the thought of having to give myself a shot on a daily basis makes me queezy.  I will be talking with the diabetes nurse tomorrow so will keep you all posted.

Here is a picture of Boston posing in his new pj's!  Thanks Grandma Peggy!!
