It's going to be an exciting year at out house! A new baby.....GIRL!! We are still in shock! I had my 20 week ultrasound on Friday, Jan. 22. Derek and I did not want to know the gender at the appointment so the ultrasound tech put the results in a sealed envelope for us. It was so weird not finding out right at the appointment, as that is what we had done for all the boys, but it was fun to change things up! The baby checked out perfect! All the measurements they took were exactly where they needed to be. I was so excited about the 3D pictures, but the baby would not cooperate! She hid near the placenta and also had her hands in front of her face the entire time. We didn't get any good ultrasound pics, but we are just so thankful she's growing just like she should be!
So blessed!
The Snyder family offered to watch the boys so that Derek and I could go out for supper, a late anniversary date night. We were going to open the envelope just the two of us! We went to The District, and we were both so anxious to know what was in the envelope! After we got our food ordered, Derek went first...
These are screen shot pictures of the video's we took of each other finding out the news! By the look on Derek's face, and how long it took him to study the envelope, I knew for sure it was a girl!
And then there is my reaction!
Our food came and we were both just so shocked by the news of a baby Girl that we hardly said a word to each other! I cried a bit right away. Happy tears of course! Derek even got the all you can eat rib meal, and he could barely finish one plate! It was so funny because usually he's a big eater! We were so happy and excited, just totally caught off guard. We both thought for sure we were having a 4th boy! Derek even commented at the ultrasound that he saw 'boy parts'! After we finished our food, we headed to Scheels. Derek thought it would be fun to find something sports related that was pink. We looked for a Patriots jersey, but didn't have any luck, so we ended up with some little Jordan shoes and a pink Under Armour outfit.
It was SO strange shopping in the girl department! We got the boys picked up and came home. They were SO anxious to know if the baby was going to be a boy or a girl!
Opening up the Scheels bag!
Boston whispering 'It's a girl!' after he saw the pink!
Derek thought it would be neat to line up the kids' shoes to announce the news to family and friends!
This is the picture we used to share the news! Seeing that pink mixed in with those boy colors is still just SO different!
So blessed!

This little princess will have her daddy wrapped around her fingers the minute he lays eyes on her, and she will be forever adored and protected by her big brothers! I never imagined that we would be having a 4th baby, so I just thought I would be a mom to all boys. The news is still sinking in for all of us, but we are so excited to add a little girl to our family.
God's plans are always more perfect than our own!
