Stiches for Brigs & Blayke's 1st Trip To The Zoo!

Saturday, May 27
Our first bit of exciting news for the day was the baby birds we have above our front door in the gutter!  We had been wondering if there were eggs, babies or an empty nest so I got out the ladder...and my selfie stick and got my phone up high enough to capture a few pictures!
3 Babies!
And then later in the afternoon Brigs ran across the road to play with his friend Jack for a few minutes.  It wasn't even 5 minutes later that I saw Jack and his dad walking Brigs across the road.  Brigs had paper towels covering his mouth.  As often as the kids fall, I thought it was just a bloody lip, or that he had lost another tooth.  It was a bit worse... He was climbing up the rock wall on the swing set... with NO hands.. and fell and bit his lip and through his bottom lip.  We were in the car and at Sanfords Urgent Care about 10 minutes later.  I called Renae Elgersma to see if she was available to rescue the other 3 kids from the clinic, and thankfully she was home and willing!  Of course she didn't tell me they were having a little family birthday party for Brooklyn that night, because she's just sweet like that and didn't want me worrying or feeling bad, so the kids were an added bonus of friends for Brooklyn!  So thankful that worked out the way it did.  It was a little less stressful without all the kids in the room and gave me the ability to give Brigs all my attention.
He was so nervous and scared and I felt so bad for him.

He had quite the gash in his lip, but they rarely ever stitch inside the mouth.  It heals quickly on it's own, so this was left as is.
He was a trooper for his stiches.  They wanted to do 4, but after 2 were complete, Brigs started to feel some of the pain & tugging and got super faint and started to dry heave.  The doc just decided to leave it with 2.  He said he would heal just fine and that he didn't want to upset Brigs anymore.  Made mom a little faint feeling too :)
We made it home and had him rest on the couch a bit before we picked up his siblings! His friend Jack even brought over Cherry Berry for him!  I think by then Brigs was kind of proud of his battle wounds, so liked showing them off to Jack & the Elgersma crew!

Derek and I took Bronx & Blayke to church, but left Brigs home with Boston.  His lip looked so sore and yucky so we didn't want to gross anyone out!

We invited Grandpa Les & Grandma Glady to join us at the zoo!  Derek was working all day, so it helped pass some time for us and it was a great day for it!

I realize the snakes get hungry too, but this snake eating a dead rabbit was a bit nasty!
The giraffe's are always one of my favorites to see!

 Mama Rhino and Baby!
 The baby.

After the zoo we headed back over to our dog sitting job!  Sophie was always excited to see us!
It's Memorial Day and it's chilly!
His lip looks so yucky, but we realize that means it's healing!
Blayke now likes to take this paci!

To break up the day a little bit, I had the daycare kids get into two groups and work on wood project.  It involved some hammering and a little glue.. Boston's group ended up throwing their pieces in the garbage, but Owen & Oaklee's helicopter turned out pretty good!

Tooth #6 is coming in and it's BIG!
Instead of going to sleep when I rocked her, she was all smiles!
