4th of July Cookout and Campfire- Just the 3 of us!

Yesterday was a family day, and it was so much fun!  We started out the morning doing some housework and yard work.  We went for lunch at the Keg and then did a little shopping.  When we got back home we decided we would bike over to the playground at the new school on our side of town. I went to get on my bike and the tire was completely flat so I then decided I would roller blade.  Derek ended up walking..  He doesn't have a bike, and his rollerblades are MIA.  After the playground we hung out at home for bit.  I was getting a bit bored so we decided to go to the cheap theater.  Derek and Boston were going to see Iron Man 2 and I was going to see Letters to Juliet.  As we were driving to the movie theater we decided to change our plans!  We ended up going to HyVee and getting our favorite foods to grill, and favorite snack foods!  We decided to have a cookout and a campire, just the 3 of us!  It was a fun night minus the frickin bugs!  I can spray an entire bottle of bug spray on myself and still manage to get eaten alive by the mosquitoes.  After watching a few fireworks from the neighborhood Boston and I headed in to shower.  Neither one of us could stop itching, and we were soaked in bug spray smell!  Here are a few pictures of our fun day/night!  We hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July with your family and friends!

Boston riding his bike to the playground.  I'm thinking I may attempt to teach him to ride without training wheels soon?!
Boston & I watching Derek get the fire going!
Boston loves roasting his own marshmallows.  He isn't a fan of smores though- he just likes the marshmallow!
Boston giving me his favorite pose..  so Derek and I decided to try it too :)

The "Other" Boston

So awhile back (not sure when, but possibly a year or so ago?!) we were at Kohls and I overheard a dad calling for his kid.  I swore I heard him say "Come here Boston" so I looked at my mom funny and said "did he just say Boston?"  So I listened again making sure it wasn't "Austin".. but again he hollered "Come here Boston". I followed the voice because I was so curious!  Sure enough, their little boy was named Boston too!!  Boston is definetely a unique name so I just thought it was crazy that we would get to meet another little boy with that name!  I had my Boston with me in Kohls that day, so the two little boys met.  They were even the same age which was also crazy!

So last Monday night at Boston's first night of swimming lessons, the lifeguards did roll call for the Preschool group.  "Boston and Boston ..."  I was thinking to myself,  "did i just hear them say Boston's name twice?".. but I sent him off with his lifeguards not really thinking much about it.  As I was standing by the fence watching, a guy came up to me and asked me if I was Boston's mom and I said yes.  He said "our sons name is Boston too.  Did we meet you in Kohls a year or so ago?!'   Ah-ha!  They did call Boston's name twice, but thats because there are TWO Boston's at swimming lessons! They remembered meeting us!!  I guess when the other Boston's dad went to sign up their son for lessons there was already a 4 year old named Boston signed up, but when he looked closer at the list he saw it was a Boston G.   He said he told his wife right away "I bet that's the Boston we met at Kohls that day!"  So anyway, small word, crazy story!  The two little Boston's were in the same swimming lesson group, and they had fun!  At night when Boston says his prayers he now includes "the other Boston" in his prayer, which I think is super sweet!!

Boston finished up his swimming lessons last night, and PASSED with flying colors!!  I am just amazed at how well he did this year.  He learned to push off the side of the pool to float on his tummy and his back, and learned how to go under and dive for things!  He is also learning to tread water, which I think is awesome for a 4 year old!  We will keep practicing so that next year he is ready for the next level!!    Speaking of swimming... we are off to Wild Water west in a few hours so I best get a few things done around the house first!  Happy Saturday friends & family!

Boston and a few boys in his swimming class (the other Boston is closest to the lifeguard).
Boston going under water for the diving stick!  He was the shortest kid in his class so it was kind of deep to get the sticks!
