Labor Day Weekend Recap!

Boston has a week of school under way and so far so good!  The papers he is bringing home this year look a lot different than last years.  He is using more than one color to paint a picture, so there is already progress :)  Today he told me he picked out his girlfriend, but couldn't remember her name.  Is anyone else's 5 year old boy this into girls?!  The house sure is quite on the mornings that B is in school.  It is usually Brigham's morning nap time during those 2 hours so it's eerily quite around the house!  It's different, but I do enjoy it.  It's my time to get caught up on bills, housework or blogging!

Brigham will be 5 1/2 months old this week.  He is full of smiles, loves to eat his toes, would eat 3 meals a day of cereal and banana's if we'd let him, and loves to suck on his fingers when he is sleepy!  When we were camping last weekend I woke up during the night because I heard a weird slurping sound.  It was just Brigham sucking on his fingers!  He still wakes up during the night 50% of the time but I've learned to live with it.  I figure it's God's way of telling me I don't really need 10+ hours of sleep at night anyway.  It usually just takes me flipping him back to his tummy, patting his butt a few minutes and he's out.  Some nights he gets himself so worked up I have to rock him a few minutes to calm him down.  He is not much of a cuddler, so I love the few minutes I do get with him in the rocking chair during the night.  Brigham is off of prevacid!  While we were camping last weekend I forgot to give him pills almost the entire 2 days we gone.  He seemed to do fine so I gave him a pill here and a pill over the next few days, and then finally just stopped.  It's been a week now and he hasn't shown any signs of needing it.  So glad to be done with that!

I am loving the cooler temp's!  It feels so good to have the windows open and the fresh air blowing through the house.  Saturday morning me and the boys went to my friend Heather's house for a few hours.  She is pregnant with triplets (yes, 3 babies!!) and is supposed to take it easy, so we went and kept her company and helped entertain her little boy Tyler while her husband was at work.  Boston plays so well with any age of kids, so I think both he and Tyler enjoyed the play time!

Sunday night I took Boston to the races at Husets.  He loves the sprint cars!  Grandpa Ron, Grandma Lisa & Lacey's family also went.  It was a fun family night minus Derek & Brigham.  I figured the loud cars and 50 degree temp's were no good for a baby, plus Derek really isn't into the races so those 2 stayed home.  Monday, the boys and I went to the zoo with Lacey and her kids.  Derek worked all weekend so it was up to me to keep us all entertained.  We go a little stir crazy if we don't have something fun planned!  All in all, it was a great Labor Day weekend & I hope the same for you and your families!

I told you he loves to eat his toes!  And see his black eye?!  Big Brother accidentally dropped a toy on his eye last week.
He also loves to squirm out of his pj's during the night!
Boston... Thank goodness your handsome because you lack a sense of style!  I told him the sweatshirt was too small, but he insisted he wear it.. and no shirt underneath.  Yep, that's my boy!
Brigham loves to sit by the window and watch his big brother and the neighbor boys play outside!

I know He spoke to me..

I had no intention of blogging today until I read the 'Verse A Day' that automatically updates at the top of our blog each day. I felt like God was speaking right to me.

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?...Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?"  Matthew 6:25, 6:27

I have been struggling lately with things that I know I am not in control of.  I am having a hard time letting go, and letting God lead, so that has been my prayer for an entire week.  I woke up this morning feeling like my prayers were not being answered.  I had the same worries and feelings inside of me that I have had all week.  I felt like no weight was being lifted off of my shoulders.  And then I sat down at my laptop and pulled up our blog only to find a verse that was so fitting for me, and now I feel at peace with it all!  Isn't that crazy how God works?!

I know I am not the only one in the world who worries, or lets people's comments or boasts eat so deep at their insides that they think about it for days at a time.  I am positive that many people struggle with these things.  Unfortunetely, it is a weakness of mine, and it's something I have dealt with my entire life.  I have a hard time counting my own blessings each day, and to not compare what we have to what our friends have, what a complete stranger has, or even what the neighbor's have.  You see my friends.. it's not about material things.  The material things that are so important to everyone now-a-days are not things we take with us when we leave this earth, so why do we focus on them?  Who cares how many square feet my house is ; I have a HOME and it's filled with Love.  Who cares if I haven't shopped for myself lately and that I still wear a pair of blue jeans that I have had for 5 years ; they still fit!  Who cares how much money we make compared to someone else ; We have all that we need and money does not buy happiness!  Our budget hasn't allowed for Derek and I to take a honeymoon ; But we have taken several mini vacations as a family that are just as memorable!  I could go on and on but I better stop..

Our blog has been viewed 25,785 times.  Never in a million years did I ever think that my ramblings would ever be of interest to people. Just yesterday, 197 people read our blog.  C-R-A-Z-Y!  Where am I going with these statistics?  I blog about real life.  The good, bad, and sad.  Today, I know there will be a few people that read my post that are probably struggling with the same things as me.  I pray that the verse i've shared will also help lift some of the weight off of your own shoulders.

Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

Count your own blessings, there are many! Let go of your worry.

2 of my Blessings!  (the other handsome blessing is working!)
