Bronx-9 Months Brigham-3 Year Exams

I took Bronx and Brigham to the clinic this morning for check up's.  Bronx had his 9 month appointment and Brigham a 3 year exam.  Both boys checked out perfect & no shots were needed!  So blessed!

Bronx was a mess earlier in the week. He had a runny nose, a temp that had been off and on for 3 days, his eczema flared up again and he came down with what we think was a mild case of hand foot mouth!  He managed to luck out with just a few pimples by his mouth, one on his finger and a few on his legs and butt.  He also started to cut 3 new teeth a few weeks ago, so he has just not been a happy camper!  We are so glad he is feeling better and is much less irritable.  He slept the entire night on Monday night, took great naps yesterday and slept ok again last night, only waking up once.

Bronx weighed in at 17lb. 14 oz. (20th percentile for weight) and he measured 28 inches (50th percentile).
  • He still isn't crawling, but is going from sitting up to getting down on his hands and knees to rock, or scoot backwards!  He gets himself jammed into the corners, underneath toys or the table and chairs and then screams for someone to rescue him!
  • Rolls all over and is getting braver and steadier on his legs when he stands up to play at his Leap Frog table.
  • He is figuring out how to sleep without a tight swaddle!  I've done a one armed swaddle for a few weeks now.  It was an easy transition for him.  That free hand is nice if he loses his paci! If he wakes up before he should, or is super sleepy before I get him swaddled I try to just put him down without swaddling him and that goes ok most of the time!
  • Sleeps the best on his tummy!  I don't put him to sleep on his stomach (that never goes well!) but if he manages to get himself snuggled up on his tummy he sleeps so much better.
  • He loves our dog!   He loves to watch him, and is easily distracted during meals or bed time if Jaxon is anywhere near him.  He'll be half asleep, hear or see Jaxon and then sit straight up to check him out.
  • Starting to eat some Gerber puffs and Gerber yogurt melts in small pieces.  If I give him one whole he gags.  I've also given him a few tastes of bread, french fry's, yogurt and popsicle!
Brigham did great at his check up!  He is barely on the charts for weight, at 27 lb. 12 oz. (5th percentile!) and is 2 feet, 11 inches (30th percentile).  He is just like his brother Boston and has huge tonsils!  Dr. just wants us to make note of any snoring or irregular breathing patterns while he sleeps, in case it would be causing him some sleep apnea.  Over all though, the boys have no major health concerns, and that is what every parent wants to hear!  The temps are warm today, so we went for an ice cream treat before nap time!

Friday night, April 4th, Grandpa Ron & Grandma Lisa had Brigham & Boston stay over night.  Paisley & Holdyn stayed too, so they had their hands full!  They went out to eat at BK and watched Frozen!  Derek had the entire weekend off, so we went to the mall Friday night & out to eat at Qdoba.  Bronx got all of our attention!  I had forgotten how easy it is to take care of 1 kid!

April 5th:  Wanted to get a picture of Bronx's eczema patches!  They can look so good one day, and then flare up and get so sore again the next.  They are looking great here!
The boys love having sleep overs, but Brigham always comes home over tired!  He slept for 3 hours when he got home on Saturday morning.  It worked out great because Derek & Boston snuck out to see the new Captain America movie!

The weather was nice on Sunday, so the boys spent the entire day outside.

Bronx keeping watch on Jaxon outside!

Monday night, April 7th:  I was exhausted.  Bronx was so crabby on Monday and refused to let me put him down.
He fell asleep like this at 7 PM!
4-8:  Bronx got a solid night of sleep, so he was happier but still not himself.

Enjoying some fresh air!

A quick stop at DQ for an ice cream cone!
Bronx enjoyed it too!

Mud & Puddles

The weather was gorgeous today!  It was so refreshing!  Brigham got a pair of rain boots for his birthday, so I thought today would be a perfect day to try them out.  I sent the boys outside this morning, and encouraged them to go find some mud & puddles to mess in!  We have a few empty lots in the neighborhood, so they are the perfect (dirty) place for the boys to play.  Not even 2 minutes later I heard crying.  Brigham had gotten himself stuck in the mud, so Boston went in after him.. and he got stuck too! Brigham had managed to get himself out of his boots, had fallen into the mud, and walked to the grass in his socks!  Boston was just stuck & laughing.  At first I thought they were joking about being so stuck and I was kind of upset but Boston kept saying 'It's for real mom!  I can't get out!', so in I went.  He was stuck, and I thought I was going to be stuck too!  It was so hilarious!  Brigham hated having his hands muddy!  The boys stripped down to their underwear on the deck, and went straight to the bathtub.

Brigham's boots still stuck in the mud!

While the boys napped this afternoon I got all of our bushes trimmed down, landscaping cleaned up and dog crap picked up.  I am so anxious to see green plants & flowers! When the little ones woke up, I decided to find a water puddle for them to splash around in.  Their boots needed a good cleaning anyway.  There is a parking lot near the entrance of our development that constantly has water sitting in it.
They even have a sump pump in the parking lot to pump it out!
Bummer for them.. but it's the perfect place for my boys to play!

Heading for the puddles!

Bronx loved the fresh air too!
He looks so much like his Papa Jerry when he doesn't smile!

 Skippin rocks!

Bronx & I watching the other boys ride bikes!

A few other hilites of our day:
Our Ninja Turtle Chia Pet is growing his shell!
SFC had a vendor event yesterday so my friend Dana & I checked it out before we had a girls day of shopping & eating out!  My favorite purchase was Rusk Buns from Caseys Bakery!  I'm not sure if this recipe is dutch or what, but its delicious.  Our friends bring this to Green Lake every summer and it is always a hit!  Such a yummy lunch today!
