Gingerbread Day!

Last week Friday, I joined Boston at school for Gingerbread Day!  This is an event for all of the Kindergarten kids, and oh my, was it ever fun!  Boston was more into eating the candy than decorating his Ginerbread House, so I did a lot of the creating.  It was so fun to see how everyone's houses turned out just a little bit different.

 'When can I eat it?'
Boston and some of his friends!

The finished product!  It looks quite pathetic right now as 75% of it has been eaten :)

Another fun memory in the books!  Boston has a normal week of school next week, and then has 2 weeks at home for Christmas break!  After break, he starts going to school 5 days a week.  I don't think either one of us is quite ready for that..

She's here, and she's beautiful!

Talk about waking up to a surprising text message on Wednesday morning!  Shana had sent me a picture of their baby girl!!  Born December 5, 2012 weighing 5 pounds, 1 ounce.  I immediately teared up.  She was beautiful, and I was over the moon excited for Jason & Shana!  A few days passed before they were able to go to the hospital to see the baby.  I didn't sleep well for 2 nights because all I could think about was that teeny tiny baby girl, and her birth mother saying her goodbyes to her.  What a selfless gift this woman gave to Jason and Shana, but my heart couldn't help but hurt for what she must have been feeling in those days and moments.

Yesterday morning, Jason & Shana were able to go to the hospital and get their baby!  The birth mother handed her over in tears, and Jason & Shana became parents to sweet baby girl Alliana Crystal.  Prayers have been answered by so many people.  God gets all the glory in this and we are so incredibly proud and happy for them.  Alliana is a lucky little girl.  Her birth mother picked two of the most caring, humble people I know.

Last night we all gathered as a family at Glady & Les' to meet the newest addition to the family!  I couldn't get over how tiny she was!  She has the most beautiful skin color and a head full of soft black hair!

Boston got to hold her first.  He was SO proud!

Proud Auntie Jamie.  I will be her favorite Auntie, I just know it.  :)
 Proud Mama!
 Shana, Jason & Alliana
 Proud Uncle!
Brigs loves her too.  He liked to touch her soft hair and say 'Nice baby'.
Grandma Glady waited patiently for her turn to hold her.  We made her wait last since she had already seen Alliana earlier in the day.

 Sweet baby girl.

Alliana, we are so happy to have you a part of the Gerdes family.  It is my prayer that you grow up to have a heart full of love for Jesus.
